A few years ago, the government (municipality?) ran ads/commercials aimed at getting more women into politics. I can't remember the whole gist of the commercial but it basically showed a young woman trying on a new suit dress and compared running for office to shopping?? I was very offended. I'm pretty sure that one of the reasons that many women don't get involved in politics is because of the perceived lack of support (e.g., mentors, easily available information, condescending approach to women generally [e.g, who thought that that commercial was a good idea and who approved it in the first place??!!]).
