Consultation for the development of a strategic roadmap for battery energy storage systems in Luxembourg

As part of the development of a strategic roadmap for battery energy storage systems in Luxembourg ("Späicherstrategie"), the Ministry of the Economy (DG Energy) is launching a strategic consultation among stakeholders directly or indirectly involved in this issue.

The main objective of this consultation is to gather as much feedback as possible to gain a better understanding of the current state of the sector, identify the challenges, barriers, and opportunities related to the promotion and implementation of different battery energy storage systems.

The insights gathered from this consultation will help shape and refine strategic recommendations based on actual needs, enabling the development of a coherent strategy for the effective deployment of battery energy storage systems in Luxembourg.

Consultation

20 March 2025 23:00 - 21 April 2025 22:00

Thank you in advance for taking part in the consultation! Your expertise and input are crucial for identifying the challenges, opportunities, and action points necessary to create a supportive framework for the promotion and deployment of battery energy storage systems in Luxembourg.

The questions cover:

  • In your opinion, what is the benefit of deploying battery energy storage systems in Luxembourg?
  • How do you assess the current state of the battery energy storage market in Luxembourg in terms of adoption, available technologies, and key players involved?
  • In your opinion, which market segments (industrial, residential, mobility, etc.) offer the greatest potential for the development of electricity storage, and why?
  • What are the main barriers and challenges (technical, economic, regulatory, etc.) that hinder the large-scale deployment of battery energy storage systems in Luxembourg?
  • What regulatory framework changes would be necessary to encourage the effective integration and utilization of battery energy storage systems in the electrical grid?
  • In your opinion, should a priority be established in the use of battery energy storage systems between their role in the operation of electricity networks and their valorization on energy markets? Do you see any other uses?
  • How could the different forms of battery energy storage systems be optimized to enhance the flexibility of the system?
  • In your opinion, what incentive measures could promote the deployment of battery energy storage systems in Luxembourg?

Please note that all input will remain anonymous, unless stated otherwise, and will be used solely for the purpose of developing the strategy paper It will not be published.
